HCS Geography 12
Hey Class,
This is where you will be posting various and sundry assignments/topics related to geography. The first assignment I am referring to is the one that could be done in lieu of the podcast. I will give more details as we get closer to the date.

Geography 12
Mr. Enns
October 6, 2008
Who: Bees around the world.
What: They are disappearing at an alarming rate. Over the last two decades, the number of beehives, now estimated by the Agriculture Department to be 2.4 million, has dropped by a quarter and the number of beekeepers by half.
When: February 27, 2007.
Where: In 24 states throughout the country, Britain, Canada.
Why: Nobodies knows for sure, some speculate that the bees are presumably dying in the fields, perhaps becoming exhausted or simply disoriented and eventually falling victim to the cold. Researchers are also concerned that the willingness of beekeepers to truck their colonies from coast to coast could be adding to bees’ stress, helping to spread viruses and mites and otherwise accelerating whatever is afflicting them
How: They are not returning to their colonies.
I think that this is very shocking. Albert Einstein says that once the bees are gone, 5 years later so is the earth! If we don't find a solution to this problem soon it could bad. bad. bad. bad.
